About the Package

The Ultimate Northern Thailand Experience
There is probably no better way for visitors to immerse themselves in the cuisine and culture of northern Thailand than to attend a khan toke dinner.

Traditionally, when a northern family gathers to eat, they sit on cushions around a toke, a low, round table covered with khan, small bowls filled with a variety of northern delights. Diners tear off chunks of sticky rice to roll into balls, and dip in the soups, curries, chili sauces, and meat dishes, sharing a long and languorous meal.

The Khan Toke dinner combines this sociable way of eating with cultural performances. Soothing, traditional northern Thai music accompanies colorful displays of graceful dances, treating all your senses to the best that the north has to offer.

The art to truly appreciating a khan toke dinner is to experiment with the contrast of flavors. It’s best not to stick with just one favorite dish, but rather to sample them in different sequences, jumping back and forth between sweet, sour, spicy and savory. This keeps your palate in a constant state of anticipation.

Because the food is shared, there is an enhanced sense of intimacy with your fellow diners. This feeling combines with the plethora of sights, sounds, aromas and tastes to leave a lingering afterglow that stays with you long after you return to your home country.

Dinner shows are normally staged from 7 to 10 p.m.
