The official language is Mandarin Chinese while a large number of people also speak Cantonese, Fukienese, Xiamenhua and Hakka in the south.
People in Mongolia, Tibet and Xinjiang, which are autonomous regions, have their own languages. In recent years, as tourism to China has been increasing, the use of English has been spread across the country. People working hospitality industry can speak fluent or basic English.
