Edge of Another World The Lisu Lodge, located at the outskirts of a Lisu hill tribe village, is based on a traditional Lisu house design. The lodge, made from wood, woven bamboo and thatch, features basic but comfortable rooms surrounding a central “family” area where you and the other guests eat, socialize, and are entertained in the evenings by local musicians and dancers. Set among fields and mountains, this charming cottage is enclosed by a lovely lotus pond, fruit trees and a small kitchen garden whose outputs are used for cooking delicious Thai dishes for visitors.
Conservation Project Built seven years ago, Lisu Lodge forms part of a project to conserve the natural heritage of hill tribes of northern Thailand. Maintained as a lodge within Lisu Village, it is a perfect base from which to explore the natural beauty of the north and the fascinating cultural diversity of its people. Offering complimentary accommodation with cordial service, this unique project has won awards and international acclaim.

Exploring the village is a diverse experience: you will come across the local shrine, admire the skilled silversmiths and marvel at fine embroidery work, and may even be invited into someone's home for a cup of local tea.
On the Shoulders of Giants Jungles and wildlife surround the lodge area and one of the best vantage points from which to take in the view is by mountain biking and elephant riding. At the lodge, a guide awaits to take you on a 10-kilometer route of mountain biking through a small Thai village. From then onwards, climb up onto the back of an elephant to admire the jungle scenery. It’s a bit daunting at first, as your sedan chair sways back and forth in time to the gentle giant’s ambling stride, but you soon get used to it, (though it can get a little scary when they slide down muddy slopes). Not to worry though, these big sure-footed fellows know exactly what they’re doing.
River Rapids Hop aboard a rubber raft and head down river over rapids. It’s much safer than it looks and a real thrill. Qualified, friendly instructors brief visitors on the basics and then do the steering, leaving you to will your tired arms to paddle frantically through the white foam. As the river calms, water fights break out with the other boats.
Akha Village Arriving at the pretty Akha village Huay Pong, you will soon find yourself in mimed conversation with these gregarious people. Sample some hill tribe hospitality and drink Akha tea before biking back to Lisu Lodge.
