| Phan Thiet
The capital city of Binh Thuan Province, Phan Thiet is about 190 kilometers (about 3 hour drive) north of Ho Chi Minh City. It is located along Phan Thiet River that flows to the China Sea. The city may have been known as a fishing town that produces good quality fish sauce but its charm nowadays lies on white fine sand beaches. The city offers a few attractions such as golf course, beaches and a fishing village. However, most holiday makers head to a small seaside town named Mui Ne.
Mui Ne is a small beach town about 22 kilometres east of Phan Thiet. The town has the reputation of long sandy palm-tree flanked beaches that stretch for miles along the South China Sea. The most convenient way to get to Mui Ne is by car from Ho Chi Minh - the road is in good condition with a variety of resorts and restaurants scattering among fishing villages along the way. Despite its increasing popularity and booming resorts, most of the beaches in Mui Ne are considered pristine and exotic.
Besides sunbathing and swimming, the town has other interesting attractions such as the sand dune, the Fairy Spring and the historical ruins of Cham Tower. The first place is a large area of sand hill that stretch along the beach while the second one is the stream that flows through the sand dune. The Cham Tower, known locally as Thap Poshaknu, is one of the masterpieces of Cham Empire which flourished during the 8th century. These Hindu towers are on a small hilltop that overlooks the entire town.
Mui Ne is not too big to explore on foot but if you want to go to these places mentioned above, you should consider renting a bicycle or motorcycle. |
