| Phra Ram Rajanivet Residential Hall
This vacation palace was built in 1910 by the command of King Rama V but completed during the reign of King Rama VI. Originally called ‘Sornpetch Prasart Pavilion’, it was renamed by King Rama VI as Phra Ram Rajanivet Residential Hall.
The white tiled roof palace is visibly built in western style by a German architect. The building’s architecture is influenced by Art Nouveau style or Jugendstil. The two-storey building has fine proportions with European style interior, white plastered walls and high ceilings. The upper floor consists of a sitting room, the royal bedroom, and an attendant’s room. The ground floor is a large hall that contains statues of King Rama V and VI. All the decorations above the doors were imported from Europe.
Locally called “Baan Puen Palace” due to the cannons placed on four sides of the building, the palace is now part of the headquarters of the Phetchaburi military base in Phetchaburi Province, 2-hour drive south of Bangkok.
