Itinerary

Day 1: Bangkok
Arrive Bangkok International airport, meet and transfer from airport to hotel by private air-conditioned vehicle with English speaking guide

Overnight at Silom Serene Hotel

Day 2: Bangkok (Breakfast)
Breakfast in the hotel.
Pick up frm the hotel and drive to the Grand Palace - the most beautiful buildings of an ancient Siamese court, which used to be the residence of the Kings of Bangkok

Day 3: Bangkok– Thai House (Breakfast, Dinner) 
After arrival, transfer to Health Land Sathorn Spa & Massage. Relax in a specially tailored mix of treatments of Aromatherapy Body massage and foot reflexology (lasting 2.30 hours). Afterwards continue on road to The Thai House, in the rural outskirts of the city. Check-in and explore the traditional house and its garden. Free time at leisure.

Day 4: Thai House – Mekhala (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) 
Breakfast at Thai House Leave with the neighbor’s boat from the pier of the Thai House to discover the very authentic and less-known canals of Bangkok’s Nonthaburi side. Stop at a typical fruit farm hidden in the maze of waterways and taste some delicious local fruits with the farm owner. Continue by boat to the majestic Chao Phrya, all the way to the Supara River House, where lunch is served by the river, overlooking the Grand Palace and Wat Arun.

Mekhala barge will come and pick you up directly at the restaurant. Cruise up the Chao Phraya River with spectacular views. Just after the sunset, the Mekhala docks at Wat Kai Tia, a Thai temple set in a tranquil rural village. An exquisite candlelit dinner of mouth-watering Thai cuisine is served on the deck.

Day 5: Mekhala – Ayuthaya – Nakhon Sawan (Breakfast, Lunch) 
Breakfast on board Continue our cruise to Bang Pa-In summer palace’s pier where you will disembark at around 10 am. Then visit Bang Pa In Palace. Continue by boat to visit Wat Phanancherng. Proceed by boat to a local riverside restaurant in Ayuthaya for lunch. Visit the Historical Research Center and Wat Chai Wattanaram and Wat Pra Srisanphet. Drive on the scenic road to Ang Thong to see the largest reclining Buddha in Thailand at Wat Khun Inthapramun. Continue to U-thai Thani Province to watch the sunset from the Sakaenkrang hill, with the view of the city and the countryside. Try your luck by throwing a coin in the belly button of the Chinese Buddha statue.

Day 6: Nakhon Sawan - Uthai Thani – Nakhon Sawan (Breakfast, Lunch) 
Wake up to the sound of birds and enjoy your breakfast next to the lotus field on the lake.
Morning drive to Uthai Thani to explore the lively and colourful fresh market before you embark on a typical river barge for a boat trip along floating houses, fish farms and picturesque temples.

Before you return to the Country Lake stop at the unique Wat Chantharam, a large meditation center with its “Crystal Hall”, famous throughout Thailand. Lunch at the Resort.

In the afternoon, free time for relaxation or bird watching. Optional hire of a bicycle or kayak to explore the rural surroundings. In the evening, visit the local village temple and attend the daily Buddhist prayer with the monks. Listen to the sound of Sanskrit canons and experience this very unique atmosphere.

Day 7: Nakhon Sawan - Sukhothai (Breakfast, Lunch) 
Breakfast at hotel.
Morning Drive on the rural backroad to Kamphaeng Phet and visit the Historical Park and the National Museum with statues from the archeological site. Lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, continue to Sukhothai to visit the famous Sukhothai Historical Park. The ruins of the royal palaces, Buddhist temples, the city gates, walls and the water dyke control system have been preserved and restored by the Fine Arts Department with the cooperation of UNESCO. Also visit the temples around the historical park: Wat Phra Phai Luang, Wat Sri Chum, and Wat Chang Lom. After visit, continue to visit Sangkalok museum, the collection of Sangkhalok wares and ceramic wares produced some 700 years ago in the Lanna Kingdom.

Day 8: Sukhothai – Phrae – Nan (Breakfast, Lunch) 
Breakfast at the hotel.
Proceed on the scenic road to Sri Satchanalai to visit the historical park with its impressive temple ruins in the forest. Then drive to Phrae and visit Wat Chom Sawan and the Vongburi house (museum). Continue to Tung Hong Village and visit a Mohom shirt workshop. Lunch at a local restaurant in Phrae before driving to Nan. Stop for a visit of the Sa paper production shortly before Nan.

In the afternoon, visit of the Nan National Museum, Wat Phumin and Wat Chang Kham. Continue to Ban Nong Bua to visit Wat Nong Bua and have a stroll in the Thai Lua village which ends at the silk weaving shop. Return to Nan with a stop at the Riverside Gallery of the artist Khun Winai Prabripoo.

Day 9: Nan – Phayao – Khum Lanna (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) 
After breakfast, depart for Phayao to visit Kwan Phayao (Phayao Lake), the largest Fresh Water Swamp in Thailand and Wat Sri Khom Kham .
Lunch at a local restaurant by the lake and afterwards continue to Kh?m Lanna.
In the afternoon, arrive at Khum Lanna and be greeted by local Lanna people. A tasty welcome drink (herbal tea or fruit juice from the garden) will be served. Khum Lanna will provide Thai farmer shirts for guest to use during the stay. Get your free sample of our “Khum Lanna Thai Recipe Book” before the first Thai cooking class begins. Enjoy the fruits of your labors with a full 4-course sit-down Thai dinner with your host and friends. Get an introduction to Thai language (which will prepare you for your market shopping next day). Watch a million stars beside a campfire in the garden.

Day 10: Khum Lanna - Lisu Lodge (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) 
Coffee/tea will be brought to your room for your wake-up call before we start our sunrise biking trip along the rural country road via San Kwang village to Phrao. Visit a morning market where local coffee is available. With the help of your guide you may buy local cookies and the flower garland for the temple offering on the way back. Then visit the farmer’s rice and traditional tools shop, chat with the owner and learn more about the rice legends and differences & properties of the varieties of rice. Cycle back to Khum Lanna with a stop to visit Wat Pa Gee. Pay respect to the Buddha image under the sacred tree. Continue biking to Khum Lanna along the local canal. Stop at some rice fields and get more information about the rice- growing process and the place of rice in Thai life. Upon your return at Kum Lanna, a local Lanna-style breakfast which is served on the riverside.

We take you on a garden tour around the compound in preparations of our Lanna country-style BBQ lunch; you collect different seasonal herbs, vegetables, and fruits for cooking. If you wish you can learn how to ride a water buffalo.

Take your second Thai cooking class during which you will learn to prepare and cook your selections from the garden or local market. Share an informal Lanna country-style BBQ lunch that you have prepared with your host.

After lunch, experience hot-pressed herbal massage. (consisting of 8 kinds herb; ginger, zingiber, lemongrass, plantain, tamarind leaves, soap pod, camphor and Aom Kiew).

Leave Khum Lanna , onto visit Wat Tham Dork Kum with the big reclining Buddha image at the cave. Afterwards drive to the Lisu Lodge.

Day 11: Lisu Lodge (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) 
Breakfast at the Lodge
Start the trip with a 13 km. of cycling to the Elephant Camp. Enjoy an hour of elephant riding through the mountainous jungle down to the river. After a healthy picnic lunch on the bank of the river, you will go on an exciting ride about 45-minutes of white water rafting (or bamboo rafting, depending on the level of the water) that takes you to a Thai country village. From there, you return to Lisu Lodge either by bike or by local truck, whichever way you prefer yourself. On the way back, we stop at the traditional Akha village for a chat with the shaman (spirit doctor).

Arrive at the Lisu Lodge, experience an ox-cart ride through farmlands and orchards passing the Thai village of Baan Pang Mai Daeng (about an hour ending back at Lisu Lodge). Then our Lisu ‘guide’ will take you for a walk through the village. You will start from Ton Lung temple to view the herbal garden then continue visiting some local families with a stop for a cup of tea and a spot of traditional medicine at the shaman’s house.

Afterwards visit the cultural centre or so called the ‘museum’ created by the villagers. Inside you will find a collection of typical household items and tools used by the Lisu and Akha mountain tribes.

Evening Enjoy a Thai dinner with a traditional Lisu dance show. Overnight at Lisu Lodge

Day 12: Lisu Lodge – Chiang Mai (Breakfast, Dinner) 
Breakfast at the lodge.
Visit Wiang Kum Kam, the archeological remains of an ancient city before transfer to the hotel for check-in.

In the afternoon, depart for a visit to Chiang Mai City Art and Cultural Center (closed on Monday). Then, proceed to visit Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, a famous temple the mountain. Change on to a local truck to visit White Hmong villager with a coffee break at the Coffee Research Project.

Dinner at the Gallery Restaurant, a teakwood northern style riverside (Ping River) Restaurant.

Day 13: Departure from Chiang Mai (Breakfast) 
Breakfast at the hotel. At leisure until the transfer to Chiang Mai airport for the flight to Bangkok (ticket not included in the price).
