Set in the lower part of Thailand’s northeastern region, this small province
of Yasothon is widely known among Thai people as the town of rockets.
The city is famous for Bun Bung Fai Festival, which is held annually on the second weekend of May. The ceremony involves firing numerous homemade rockets to the sky to ask for a prosperous year from the higher spirit and mark the arrival of the harvesting season. This local tradition later turned into a bigger scale festival that features firework displays, a beauty contest, parades and a rocket competition. |
