Dinning in Siem Reap
Fast becoming the most important tourist city in Cambodia, Siem Reap offers a myriad choice of cuisine that surely will satisfy almost, if not all, every palate. There are different kinds of restaurants and bars from roadside French bistros and Cambodian thatched-roof bars to Italian restaurants and Japanese Teppan Yaki diner. Most of them are densely populated near the Old Market while many can be found along the Sivatha Boulevard and the Pokambor Avenue by the Siem Reap River. Here are some of the popular places that have been visited by a lot of travelers and expatriates over the years.
Angkor What? is a friendly bar near the Old Market. The bar has a pool table and offers both indoor and curbside seating.
FCC Angkor has a white stylish décor with upscale furnishings. A second branch of the famous FCC (Foreign Correspondents Club) in Phnom Penh, the restaurant has an extensive menu with a mix of international and local cuisine. A bar, bookstore and boutiques galleries are available. Visa and Master cards are accepted.
Café de La Paix has recently gained the popularity from travelers with its gourmet cuisine. Located in the new boutique hotel Hotel De La Paix, the place sells freshly baked pastries, sandwiches, homemade ice cream and frozen yogurt. Visa and Master cards are accepted.
Kama Sutra is a chic Indian restaurant. It has a wide selection of Indian fare of north and south of India such as curries, seafood and vegetarian dishes.
Kobe offers the traditional Japanese Teppan Yaki style of cooking on the iron skillet. The restaurant also has a Japanese beer and wine bar and private rooms to accommodate couples.
La Noria is set in a nice traditional Cambodian wood building overlooking the river and the garden. This French bar and restaurant serves both continental and local dishes. JCB, American Express, Visa and Master cards are accepted.
Red Piano was a popular place frequented by film crew of the movie “Tomb Raider”. The restaurant has had good reviews over the year and one of the most popular restaurants in Siem Reap. It has both international and Asian far with extensive cocktail menu, including the Tomb Raider Cocktail.
Blue Pumpkin is famous for a long and oversized white sofa that exudes a relaxing atmosphere. The restaurant is good for light meals, serving a variety of food such as burger, pita sandwiches, pastas and salad. Ice cream, freshly baked breads, pastries are also available.
