There are a Department store and supermarkets in Lhasa where you can buy some souvenirs and basic items such as cotton clothing, mugs, canned food, towels, and toothpaste.
Souvenir shopping is recommended at Barkhor Street. Here you can find items at bargain price such as exotic Tibetan opera masks and costumes, Buddha figures, amulets, fur hats, copper teapots, inlaid knives and handmade Tibetan rugs.
Xinhua bookstores in Lhasa sell maps of Lhasa, Tibetan primers, Tibetan-Chinese dictionaries and Tibetan and Chinese books.
