Small Wild Goose Pagoda
The Small Wild Goose Pagoda is situated in Jianfu Temple in the south of the Xi’an City. The temple was built it in 684 to bless Emperor Gaozong after his death. It was originally named Xianfu Temple, and renamed as Jianfu Temple in 690. Rabbi Yijing of Buddhism ever translated lection and made his theory here after he fetched sutra from India by sea.
The main attraction in this temple is the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, which was built between 707 and 709 in the Tang Zhongzong Jinglong Era. The pagoda originally had 15 floors but its top was shaken off to only 43.3 meters high after the earthquake in Shaanxi in 1556. The tower’s arc doors were made with blue stone from and its lintels were carved finely, which is the artistic pith of the stone inscription of the Tang Dynasty.
The temple also houses “Yanta Tower Morning Bell “. The big 8000 kilogram iron bell is built 1192 and 3.55 metres high and 2.5 metres in diameter.
Around the pagoda are more than 10 ancient kiosks, platforms, buildings, pavilions halls and houses arranged magnificent symmetry. In the garden, there are shading greenery, and old trees on both sides of the path. The compound is very sequestered with exhibition rooms, among which the “Folklore Room” that shows the ancient colorful folklore culture and popular industrial arts all over Shaanxi Province.
Great Wild Goose Pagoda
Located in Daci’en Temple in the southern suburb of Xian, the Great Wild Goose Pagoda is regarded as the masterpiece excelling the Nature. The pagoda was built in 652 AD when a famous Chinese monk Xuanzang presented a memorial to the emperor to build the grand Dayan Tower to store the Buddhist scripture he fetched from India. It was also a sanctum where he worked on the translation of the Buddhist scripture. Additionally the pagoda was frequently visited by several famous Chinese poets of the Tang Dynasty such as Dufu, Censen, Baijuyi who stepped on the tower and expressed their feelings, creating countless peaks of the poetic perfection, especially the supernatural tales like “Xi You Ji”.
Mounting the grand Dayan Tower, looking into the distance while leaning on the handrail, you can see the whole ancient city of too many beautiful things, which makes you relaxed, happy and reluctant to leave.
