BTS SkyTrain

The Bangkok Mass Transit System, commonly known as the BTS Skytrain, is an elevated railway system that runs across Bangkok’s city center.  The railway comprises twenty-three stations along two routes: the Sukhumvit line running between Mo Chit and On Nut, and the Silom line which starts from National Stadium across the Chao Phraya River to Wongwian Yai. Three Skytrain stations (Sala Daeng, Asok and Mo Chit) are connected to the underground MRT system. Saphan Taksin station is in walking distance to the Sathon pier where you can take the Express Boat along the Chao Phraya River.

Places of interest along the lines include Bangkok’s main shopping areas and business centres such as Siam Square, Chatuchak Weekend Market, Silom, Siam Square, Asok, National Stadium and Sukhumvit. Many stations are linked by ‘Skybridges’, which are overhead pedestrian walkways connecting the stations with office buildings and shopping centres.

The fare, which starts from 15 to 40 Baht, is based on the distance traveled. Adult / student / tourist passes for limited / unlimited train rides are also available.

The trains run daily from 6 am to midnight with more frequent service during rush hours.
