Eco Tours in Chumphon
Pha Toe District
Situated away from the coast, the area around Pha Toe is similar to Thailand’s northern region with mists cloaking the tall mountain peaks. Undulating mountain ranges, looking like rolling waves, support forests of lush vegetation stretching from north to south, dividing Chumphon province from neighboring Ranong Province.
Streams and waterfalls converge to form the Chumphon River before it spills into the Gulf of Thailand. These streams and rivers form the basis of some adventurous programs that include the irresistible attractions of Hin Bok Fi rapids, forest treks.
Pha Toe is a very interesting jumping-off point with many activities for nature-lovers. There are two trekking programs: a choice of a short trek or a long trek. The short one is a one-day tour to see Bua Phud blossoms (rafflesia flowers) at Ton Nam ranger unit. The long distance trek takes two days and one night and explores all aspects of nature. For water rafting, January to April is the best time since the waters are at moderate strength and crystal clear. Pha Toe canal meanders between mountains covered with lush, green forests, interspersed with fruit gardens. Sharp curves along the way have created currents forming midstream sandbars, hence increasing the spectacle of rafting. Contact your travel agent for further details about these nature tours.
