Koh Ngam Yai and Koh Ngam Noi
About 17 km offshore from Thung Wua Laen Beach are Koh Ngam Yai and Koh Ngam Noi. The topography of the islands is steep, rocky limestone cliffs encircled by a variety of fertile coral reefs with colorful fish, and spots suitable for snorkeling or scuba diving. The islands, deserted except for workers looking after the bird’s nest concessions, are among the most popular in the sea off Chumphon.
The package tour operated daily by Chumphon Cabana Resort includes a dive program around the islands of Koh Ngam Yai and Koh Ngam Noi. It takes around one hour to reach there by boat.
Koh Chorakhe
One of the islands seen in the distance from Thung Wua Laen beach, Koh Chorakhe, which means Crocodile Island in Thai, is rocky with steep cliffs and is uninhabited. It is about 11 km from Thung Wua Laen Beach. There are coral reefs, sea flowers and colorful fish around the island, suitable for scuba diving and snorkeling.

You can hire a long-tailed boat at Chumphon estuary or contact Chumphon Cabana Resort at Thung Wua Laen beach, which may be more convenient because they provide diving equipment as well as a tour boat. There is no accommodation on the island – tourists usually stay in accommodation around Thung Wua Laen beach. Boats can be rented from Chumphon estuary.
Koh Ma Prao
The island of Koh Ma Prao is just 1 km from Sairee beach and can be reached by a long-tailed boat within five minutes. The closest island to Sairee beach, Koh Ma Prao is uninhabited except for workers tending the bird’s nest concession. The island has cliffs and caves filled with swallows’ nests. There is only one sandy beach on the island. The beach is around 100m in length. The name Koh Ma Prao is derived from a large number of coconut trees on the island. Tourists go to Koh Ma Prao to swim and to admire the stunning seascapes in the area.
