Bangkok Airways, the forefront domestic carrier that flies passengers to prime destinations in Thailand and to other adjacent countries in Southeast Asia. Over these passing three decades, the airline has continuously developed itself from the original Sahakol Air, an air taxi service operator, into the well recognized internal and charter flights operator. It now offers a great variety of the destinations within the territory and the cities next door. Within the country, it provides flights from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, Sukhothai, Hua Hin, Phuket, Koh Samui (Surat Thani province), Pattaya (U-Tapao Airport) and the new destination Koh Chang (Trat province). To the countries nearby, its routes extend to Siem Reap and Phnom Penh in Cambodia, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh and Hue in Vietnam, Luang Prabang in Laos and Xi'an and Xishuangbanna in China.
Perceiving the utmost importance of the safety and reliability value, Bangkok Airways has continuously implemented fundamental measures to ensure its supreme flying quality. Primarily, it chooses to employ only the fine standardized aircrafts--that is, Boeing 717-200 and
ATR72-500--the twin turboprops manufactured by France's Avion de Transportation Regional. In the meantime, it also emphasizes continuous flight trainings for its pilots and crews while enhancing the ongoing maintenance check-up and system development.
Apart from the safety measures, Bangkok Airways also accentuates the local atmosphere of each destination with the architectural style of its private-owned airports. This can be seen from the traditional Thai building at its Sukhothai Airport and the low-rise palm-thatched roofs at Samui Airport. All the more are many facilities the airline provides for passengers: the for-every-passenger departure lounge of first-class equivalent, free Internet access, reading area and playground area for children at the Bangkok Airport.
